Palms

  Windmill Palms are one of the few palms that do well in our zone 7.  You don't need to wrap these palms or do anything extra to provide winter protection.  Treat them as you would a normal zone 7 shrub or tree.  They are very hardy here and survive in our native soil very well. You can expect 6 to 10 inches of trunk growth a year in our area.  Windmill Palms make a great addition to a pool or hot tub area, because they give you a tropical look and are not messy.
